Projects

RTI works with local counterparts and capacity around the world to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to achieve development results. These projects include applications in health, education, governance, water, and the environment. The following project highlights are specific examples of how we have helped countries to use these tools.

Olutindo is designed to improve communications between citizens and their local government. In Uganda local government officials use a tablet application to monitor, manage, and help respond to citizen requests.
In Zimbabwe, RTI is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the  Ministry of Health and Child Welfare (MOHCW) to improve disease surveillance using mobile phones.
Drugs for fighting neglected tropical diseases are now at the fingertips of clinic staff in Uganda with a new text-messaging system being piloted by RTI with funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Seguridad Inalámbrica (Wireless Security) makes vital crime data more accessible to law enforcement officials and the municipal government in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.
The Zambia Electronic Perinatal Record System (ZEPRS) is being used by clinics and the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia to improve patient care.
Zcore-IRS (Indoor Residual Spraying Application) assists projects in the collection and aggregation of data from remote malaria spraying sites.
